It’s always fun to shoot weddings at new places and The Sheepherder Bar and Grill right outside of Sacramento was no different.  It was a beautiful location with amazing food!  The room quickly transformed from a ceremony site to a reception.   Sacramento Wedding Photographer, Donna Beck Photography

The festive atmosphere, fine food, music and wine made this occasion one to remember.  I was totally captivated by the rustic elegance and features of Sheepherders Bar and Grille.  There’s also private rooms that are perfect for smaller, more intimate gatherings too.

It was interesting to find there’s some history behind Sheephearders too.  It was originally built in 1913 and was called the Citrus Inn.  The Citrus Inn became many different businesses, including The
Edwards Hotel and at one point a brothel.   Everyone came to the building to eat good food and to have a good time, there was drinking and dancing until late at night.   Funny how some traditions carry on as the feel for this location is very similar to what it was years ago.  Well, not the brothel part, of course!   And recently the entire building was renovated during the span of two years.  The stone columns, grand fireplaces, wood rafters and beams remain intact to keep the history and historic feel of the building.
