Cowpoke Fall Gathering, Loomis Event Photographer, Donna Beck Photography
This is the thrid year that I have donated my services to the Cowpoke Fall Gathering. It’s an awesome weekend of fun with an event better cause called Tough Enough to Wear Pink that supports breast cancer research.
If you haven’t heard of Cowboy Poetry, you aren’t alone. I know when I was asked to help with this event, I had no idea what it was all about. But if you knew my dad, a true cowboy at heart, you would know why anything to do with a Cowboy caught my attention and after learning more about it I just had to check it out. And I am so glad I did.
So what is Cowboy Poetry you ask? Well, it’s a language all it’s own. For many cowboys, sharing tall tales and weaving verse and rhyme was their only source of entertainment while sitting around a campfire after a hard days ride. In this event it’s brought to life with many laughs and stories but can also bring a tear to your eye.
There’s some amazing performers, including retired 49ers football player Jeff Severson and world renound cowboy poet, Baxter Black. It’s 3 days of non-stop fun, tradition and a time to celebrate one of my favorite icons, the Cowboy.
Enjoy!
Enjoy!
