School picture day at school is one day I dread.  Lord knows that with one of my daughters any attempt that I made in the morning to make her hair look great is out the window as soon as she leaves my car in the morning.  And the other daughter is in 5th grade so you know they are last to get their pictures done, so again after 2 recesses and a lunch, I wonder at times why I even bother.   You’d think as a photographer I would have the answer on a day like this, yep, not so much.  So this year I decided to take school pictures into my own hands and announce an afternoon of “Back to School Mini Sessions” at a local park in Roseville.  Along with some fun props and an outside setting that’s sure to please any student over a backdrop and perfect light…it was a great day to show off each students unique personality and have some fun at the same time.

So a big thank you to the 14 kiddos that came out for the afternoon and had their pictures taken.  It was a great day as many students brought their favorite book or something to represent their favorites things like a skateboard or soccer ball.  One girl brought her last years school picture to show how much she’s grown in the past year.  It was a great way to personalize school picture and make them individual to each child.

At the end of each mini-session students filled out a questionnaire to show what their favorite things were and as a little surprise I created a poster for each child to enjoy.  Take a look at the picture above to see Alyssa’s favorite things!

And  I sure hope they enjoyed their Kelli’s Cookies as a little treat for coming out to mini-sessions!
