Are you reading this saying “What the heck is that?” Yep, that was me too. I had no idea what Cowboy Poetry was either. So when I was asked to shoot the event for this organization I was intrigued. It seemed like a secret society of some sort. So I reached into the back of my closet, grabbed out my cowgirl jeans, boots and plaid shirt and headed to the Blue Goose Produce in Loomis to shoot for this charitable organization.
Oh. My. Gosh. The place was perfect. Everywhere you looked it bled country. People were dressed to the 9’s in their country duds. I’m talking full on here. It was awesome. And in the Blue Goose there were local vendors set up selling cowboy hats, art, purses, home decor, horse biscuits, you name it. On the other end the party was gearing up to start. The chairs were lined with Wrangler Jeans on the top, art on the walls that looked
like it was straight out of a Marlboro advertisement, and this place was ready to roll.
This evening’s entertainment consisted of 4 talented entertainers, Dave Stamey, Jeff Severson, Chris Isaacs and John Kintz. These men sang songs, told stories that made you laugh like you wouldn’t believe and even ended the night with a tribute to our Veterans, fittingly so since this was held on 11.11.11.
If you haven’t experienced Cowboy Poetry, you need to. You will have an amazing time and really enjoy the talent. Next thing you know you will find yourself coming back, year after year, like most people attended do.
And I am proud to add all the proceeds to the event went to 3 local charities, Ride to Walk, Wrangler’s Tough Enough to Wear Pink and the South Placer Heritage Foundation.
So a big “Thank You” to this wonderful organization for letting me be a part of it.
